Considering that Jimmy says Anya is a shit nurse despite her keeping Curly alive with nothing but hopes and dreams I would bet money that one cryopod didn't just ~miraculously~ survive the crash and that Swansea was actually trying to repair them. There are still not enough for the whole crew so it would still make sense for him to keep it a secret until he knows how many are salvageable. Especially since he doesn't seem to think highly of Jimmy as a leader lol.

Accepting help: Tulin and the Champions

For all the problems I have with totk, one thing I love about it is the development of the sages, particularly Tulin.

His arc is about learning how to accept help from others, which is so interesting when compared to Revali, who was very isolated and had to be self reliant. Revali seemingly had no family or anyone else in his life to fall back on, and as a result he had to become the best possible version of himself as a warrior to make up for that. In BotW we see Revali go to EXTREME lengths to be the best warrior he can be.

A comparison could even be made between Revali and the rest of the Champions. What they all have in common is that they all died alone in their divine beasts. No one came to rescue them. Zelda and Link had each other, and that’s ultimately how they both managed to survive the calamity. The champions had only themselves to rely on in their final moments, and in the end it wasn’t enough.

But back to Tulin, his arc (and to a lesser extent the other Sages arcs are about this as well) is about accepting help from others. Tulin has his parents, Link and the other Sages to fall back on. Tulin wanted to prove that he was strong enough on his own, but eventually realised that his strength came from those around him. Tulin receives the Great Eagle Bow when he shows that he can be strong AND accept help when he needs it.

Even the new Sage’s powers are all designed in a way that reinforces this. The Champion’s abilities were all gifts that they honed to use by themselves, they used their powers to fight alongside their allies, but still their powers were never really meant to be used though a second party. In a way, their gifts are weakened when they are given to Link. For example Mipha’s Grace can only be used on Link in BotW, but when she was alive she could heal anyone.

By contrast, the Sage’s abilities are supposed to be used with the aid of another, they are amplified by Link. Tulin’s gust is more or less useless to Tulin himself, but with another person it had a lot of utility. Yunobo requires someone to aim him to get the most out of his charge. Riju is still learning how to control her lightning and needs someone else to direct it. While Sidon could probably use the water shield on himself, Sidon wants to protect others, so his power manifests as a physical shield to protect his friend.

This idea of the champions being isolated and not being able to receive much help from others makes a lot of sense. They were the last line of defence for Hyrule, they were the Plan B incase Zelda did not awaken her powers. When they became Champions, all of them were well respected warriors amongst their people, a lot of responsibility fell on them to be the protectors of not only their people, but all of Hyrule. For them to show weakness would mean Hyrule losing faith in their beloved champions.

The new Sages have a support system that the Champions did not have, they are allowed to have faults and not be perfect, because they have other people to support them and I think that’s beautiful.

They do! In fact this is pretty much the height of their Ninpo strength. Remember this?? This is where they're at right now!

We'll get to see some of this soon. I'm really excited to dive into more of their abilities. Got some ideas on how their powers have evolved that I've yet to see utilized within the fandom. Like... what ELSE could Mikey do other than just use chains to throw things? How else could Leo use portals both defensively and offensively? It's a fun puzzle to ponder. I just hope I can do the upcoming action sequences justice because I really... really... don't do them ever. Pray for me.

Get deeply upset when we see people in DID support communities complaining about people who are open about their condition in any way which is not mourning.

There is an inherent ableist bias in society that people of any handicap must perform their disability to be considered legitimate. Every person who suffers any form of chronic illness, physical or mental, is subject to this discrimination.

The solution is not, can not and will not ever be to criticize and shame people who are not performing illness to an acceptable level for public. Mentally ill people do not owe the world a performance and blaming other marginalized people for your oppression will not release you from it.

Angry that this is a point we must continue to argue.

Rosemary was a character I created for a Mouse Guard campaign a few years ago. Now I've brought her back for a whole new adventure in a whole new setting in an entirely different rpg system; Some 25ish years after the events of Mouse Guard, Rosemary finds herself entangled with a new cast of characters within the dnd setting of Humblewood.

 I’m actually quite proud of how I’ve translated my pacifist mouse from the Mouse Guard rpg system to the (much more combat oriented) dnd 5e. I love making creative builds in 5e, and Rosemary is probably my most unique creation yet. She is a Fighter multi-class who, a dozen sessions in, has not done a single point of damage. And yet she is the character that my DM has said scares them the most when designing combat encounters.

DAY 351: i think one big gripe i have with the newest chapter in regards to reko/alice is the fact they are both so... background and soulless after all of what happened. which i completely understand why they fade into the background-- since their character arcs have been quite wrapped up at that point. i just feel as though they could've at least had a more prominent and inspiring role in a way, which i think a lot of people agree with from what i've seen. its not really that they *shouldnt* fade into the background, but more of the fact that we shouldnt forget that they are there, you know? the only real memorable moments are their deaths in that chapter, or when they are inspiring ranmaru.

i guess reko also has that nao scene, but that's opitional. everything else has them rarely ever mentioned or... very very dumbed down HAHA. i understand the difficulty in keeping a character relevant post-arc, though. so i can't complain too much... especially when you have to bring and develop a whole new cast in one chapter.

Someday I will write down why not just the story of Cinderella but especially the dynamic between Cinderella, her evil stepmother and stepsisters is one of the most important stories that has lasted thousands of years for a VERY GOOD REASON

Not just regarding child abuse, feminist literature and literature of female (coded) life experiences

But one of the most important stories PERIOD.

SOMEDAY I will fucking explain why Adrien and Gabriel are a brilliant and extremely important depiction of that story, and a phenomenal gender swapped variation of it for modern feminist story-telling that is very much breaking some grounds. If only Marinette's own girlboss 'knight in shining armor' narrative wouldn't constantly undermine that, making them seem "lesser" bc Adrien is "just" her little damsel she will save "easily" because we can't allow for her to be seen as anything else but one of the "STRONG" modern female heros.

SOMEDAY I will explain why Cinderella and Lady Tremaine are NOT fucking jokes and outdated female (coded) archetypes to be laughed at for how "weak and backwards" they are, but if well utilized one of the most raw and gut-wrenching archetypes of the non-romantic interplay of love vs hatred that grabs you by the most intimit connection a human can have and potentially breaks down the very root of who you are and why.

I will fucking explain why despite how misogynistic our society is, Cinderella and Lady Tremaine are still one of the most iconic protagonist and villain pairs in all of fiction and will continue doing so for many ages to come.

Why Cinderella, no matter how much society will tear her down, will never stop rising from her ashes victoriously. And why Lady Tremaine, no matter how underutilized and slandered she's depicted, will never ever stop dominating 99% of any other villain she's put against.

Both entirely without special powers, status, or whatever. Just through their very presence and dynamic.

I swear to God this fandom...
